So you want a professional website to impress your visitors?
A professional website that reflects your business will boost your sales and create in income online.
It may be tempting to get a cheap website designer; you can get a website under £100. But what are you getting for such a cheap price?
The price of a website comes from the number of hours involved and the hourly rate. The hourly rate of a website designer comes from their skill and experience.
So a £100 website would take an experienced website designer charging £25 an hour 4 hours to complete or a cheap designer charging £5 per hour 20 hours to complete.
Building a website properly takes a lot of skill and experience. But it can also be built using 'off-the-shelf' programmes such as Microsoft's FrontPage.
Website Builders
A website builder will produce a website fairly quickly and requires no knowledge or skill of making websites. If you're after a limited website presence and aren't bothered about where your website appears in the search engines; a website builder is the perfect choice.
Some of the clients I deal with ask for expertise but prefer to create the websites themselves to keep costs low. Again this works out fine.
But ask yourself one thing... if you knew nothing about cars would you service or even build your own car without any assistance? If you knew nothing about building houses would you build your own house without expert help?
Skilled Website Design
A skilled website designer will generally charge no less than £25 per hour and it will take more than just one or two days to produce a website. So you can see where the figure £800 for a website comes from. £800 is basically 32 hours, or just over 4 and-a-half working days.
Think about it metaphorically; building a website is no different to building a car or a house. There are fundamentals that must be put in place first and it needs to be built properly for it to have a good and successful working life.
What sort of website are you looking for?
A four bedroom house will cost more and take longer to build than a one bedroom house. A well-designed apartment will cost more than a flat.
It's no different when it comes to website design. A ten page website will take more time to build than a one page site. A well-designed website that looks professional will take longer and more skill than a very basic designed website.
