Day Four - Thursday 15 January 2009

I've always been a fan of Radio1. I wake up to Greg James at 05:30 and then tune in again to Chris Moyles after I've been to the gym at about 08:00. Chris Moyles currently has a live video stream of his radio show which provides great morning entertainment! The show runs from 06:30 - 10:00 Mon - Fri. Watch the web version on the BBC Radio1 website. This week I've been addicted to watching the show whilst updating my blog - it really is very funny!

Which brings me smoothly onto a very good point; you must enjoy what you do. If you want to make money online you must be doing something you enjoy. If you plan on selling a product or service, make sure you enjoy selling it. Or sell something that you have a real interest in.

I remember way back in year 10 at school a teacher told us all something very interesting. At the time I didn't really pay much attention to it, but it's really starting to make sense 5 years on! She told us never to take a job just for the money. She said no matter how tempting the money alone may be, you won't be able so stick at it for long. If you do; you'll end up unhappy, depressed and miserable.

It's so true; I've had some jobs before that I took on purely for the money alone. The only thing that really kept me going was some of the people I worked with, which have turned into some really good friendships. But once these people left, working just for the money became a real struggle. I soon became bored of the repetitive tasks of my job and felt little job satisfaction.

Ok, I'm going on a rant here I know! The point I'm trying to make here is to enjoy what you're doing. There will always be times when you have to just "get on with it", but as long as you get satisfaction and enjoyment out of what you're doing.

Success is not measured by the size of your wallet. It's measured by setting your own personal goals and being happy that you have achieved these goals. If you set goals and you achieve these goals you are successful. No-matter what it is that you do. Never let others dictate their opinions onto you.

So with that said, let's move onto today's objectives. Yesterday I wrote a new article on this websites about writing a good article. I did this because I'm still learning the basics of newsletters and gaining subscribers so I felt an an article about writing a good article would be more interesting for my readers than an article about newsletters.

I didn't quite get to my 10 new subscribers yesterday, I gained 5. I did everything I could without spending a penny to gain these subscribers so I'm happy that at least this blog is making progress.

Today's objectives:

  • Add unique content to this website
  • Add social bookmarking buttons to this website
  • Seek new subscribers

Not a lot of objectives, but I feel it's enough to get be getting on with for the day.

Anyway, I'm aware I'm running out of time to get today's blog posted on time! See you tomorrow at 09:00.

Simon
